Art Collecting Going Public. Belarusian Art of the 20-21 cc. in Digital Space

Talk by Alina Strelkovskaia

16th of November, 18.00

EHU campus (Valakupiu g. 5, room 301)

The omnipresent digitalization changes social reality in general and the art world in particular. Artists experiment with a new toolkit, curators invent new ways of showing it, while the owners of significant collections hurry to digitalize their treasures and upload data for public sharing. The motives of creators are quite obvious but collecting practices are usually not so transparent. The lecture covers the digitalization of private, corporate and museum collections of Belarusian art of the 20-21 cc., pro and contras of their online promotion and the pitfalls of the local context.

Alina Strelkovskaia is art collecting researcher, Research Officer of the National Art Museum of Belarus, graduate of the Theory and Practices of Contemporary Art programme, EHU.
