The Laboratory for Studies of Visual Culture and Contemporary Art is happy to announce the launch of the new seminar series ‘Art and Curatorial Practice in a Digital World’.

The project will focus on a wide spectrum of questions on contemporary art and curatorial practice: how contemporary technological and social conditions transform the nature of art? What digital forms acquire art exposition and representation? How methods of teaching the history and theory of art change? What relationships emerge between the artist, the curator and the programmer in the process of art digitalisation? How the perception of art is transformed and what competencies are required from the artist and the viewer?

The objectives of the seminars are to discuss and explore such phenomenon as art data, to question algorithm as an art object, to reveal a fusion of art and contemporary technologies as well as a formation of cyberinfrastructure, and to address the controversial aspects of authorship and collaboration.
